Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the proud home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda. Our sanctuary is conveniently located 176 km north of Kampala on the Gulu Highway toward Murchison Falls. Come meet our rhinos! We offer guesthouses, backpacker rooms, and camping options for your overnight accommodations. We have a restaurant and full bar that will keep you well cared for during your stay.

Rhino Tracking

One of our trained rangers will meet you upon arrival and give you an introduction to our sanctuary and some information about our rhinos. Depending on where our rhinos happen to be when you arrive, you will drive to the closest location and then approach the rhinos on foot.

You will then have an opportunity to observe our rhinos in their habitat at a very close, and very safe, distance. Our guests inevitably tell us that the experience was better than they had imagined. The animals are magnificent and the opportunity to see them up close is truly one not to be missed! The tracking excursion lasts on average between 1-2 hours.

Restaurant

Before or after your rhino tracking, join us for a meal in our restaurant. Our two chefs prepare fresh, tasty, and satisfying meals. Our restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is open everyday. We also have a full bar including a variety of cold drinks, beer, alcohol, juices, tea, and coffee. Our covered outdoor setting gives you an opportunity to fully enjoy the scenery around you while you enjoy your food and drinks.

Accommodations

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary offers peace and tranquility in beautiful surroundings. We have a variety of accommodations to meet your overnight needs. Come and stay will us for a holiday or just an overnight. Our guesthouses have both private and shared indoor facilities. Our backpacker rooms use a shared ablution with full facilities. Our campgrounds are pristine and located very close to our headquarters. Our electricity is run on solar power with a generator backup and all rooms have lights. You can charge batteries as needed upon request.

Coming soon….. Amuka Lodge! We are currently building a four star tented lodge which overlooks our animals favorite water hole. You can relax in comfort and watch the rhinos! The lodge will be a great place for all types of gatherings including corporate retreats, team building weekends, weddings, and family gatherings. All Guest House and Backpacker accommodations are priced per person, per night;

Camping fee is per tent;

Meals and accommodations for children ages 4-12 are half price;

Children under four years are free for tracking, accommodation and food;

Full board pricing and group rates are available upon request;

Payment is accepted in Euro, US Dollar and Pounds- exchange rate given at reception;
